The Battelle Biological and Computational Science Facility project is a multidisciplinary research center combining biological safety level two wet research laboratories with extensive dry computational laboratories. The LEED® Gold facility also includes office and conference spaces all under high security containment. Numerous energy reduction strategies were employed in the project, including geothermal, heat recovery chillers, heat pipe systems in the air handlers, evaporative cooling, occupancy sensors tied to VAV air distribution, VAV fume exhaust, low pressure drop ductwork designs and extensive sun-shading.
Now that we are a couple of months past the ribbon cutting for our new facility in Richland, Washington, I would like to say thank you for the Harvey Team's performance. As you know, we started construction in May of 2008 and completed the project in September of 2009. Not only did your team meet all of our expectations during the preconstruction/construction phase of the project, but they continue to meet and exceed all of our expectations during the warranty period today.
I know that this project was complex, there will always be some warranty issues. In my mind, it all comes down to how they are addressed and resolved. The Harvey Team has risen to the occasion and not let us down.
Thank you again for constructing such a quality facility. We look forward to working with you again in the near future."
