Bruce Mattila was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota. He did not move to Houston until his wife visited her sister in 1981 looking for a teaching job. Two months later they were Texans and Bruce began his career at Harvey on the Sage Plaza office building. While growing up in Duluth, Bruce played hockey and baseball but always had a love for wood working which led him to his career in construction. While not building some of Harvey’s most impressive projects, Bruce spends his free time hunting, fishing, building furniture and working on his kids' homes.
Bruce married Kathy in 1978 and they have three daughters, Rachel, Hannah and Natalie, and a son named Jamie. Bruce and Kathy have a Great Dane named Lina. Bruce serves on the Corporate Safety Committee of Harvey.

What is your favorite childhood candy/junk food?
Licorice, because my grandmother would come and visit every Wednesday and bring licorice and ice cream. That was the only time I got candy growing up.
