Guy Cook

Guy Cook grew up in McKinney, Texas where is family moved from Redondo Beach, California when he was just one year old. Growing up Guy was involved in competitive horse shows from the age of 11 through college. He showed Halter, Performance and Roping. In the 1980s, he had the top ranked Halter Mare in the State of Texas. His love of art and drafting eventually led him to architecture. He started college at the University of Texas at Arlington but as soon as possible, transferred to Texas A&M where he majored in architecture. After working in an architecture firm for a year, Guy returned to Texas A&M, earning a Masters in Construction Science. After his graduation in 1992, he began his career at Harvey. He first went to work on the McDonnell Douglas Office Building but soon after, Joe Cleary landed two Krogers. Guy was assigned as a project manager to these two Kroger stores which turned into an historical run of 13 Kroger stores completed in just five years.  

Guy resides in Richmond, Texas with his wife Jerian and their two sons, Travis and Trevor. They have a chocolate lab appropriately named Cocoa. When Guy is not working, you will not find him on a golf course. He enjoys horses, fly fishing and hunting in his spare time. Currently, Guy serves on the Advisory Board for the Fort Bend Women’s Center, as Chairman of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) Junior Horse Committee, and as a Committeeman for the HLSR Commercial Exhibits Committee. He is a member of NAIOP Houston, Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the Greater Fort Bend Economic Development Council.

What fictional character do you identify with most?
Yoda. Short, fat, green and quiet. A man of few words, like me sometimes. I just wish I was that intellectual. 

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?
Good Guys Can Come Out on Top

Where would you go in a time machine?
I would want to see the Battle of San Jacinto/Texas Independence.
