Mark Hammer was born in Austin, Texas and raised in Dallas, Texas playing football as a wide receiver and safety. He left Dallas for Texas A&M and during his freshman year in architecture, he had Deans for all his classes. During a design project a fellow student had a lump of clay that received high praises from the Dean. Mark became frustrated because it would be impossible to build. It was then he discovered he wanted to build and graduated from Texas A&M in 1991 with a Construction Science degree. In 1992, he started his career with Harvey on the Exxon Chemical Americas project. At that time, this project had one of only two tower cranes in Houston. Mark was named, “Rookie of the Year” by Exxon during this project.
In 1995, Mark married Amy and they have a son named Jake. Moose, a yellow lab and Bella, a Bichon Frise round out home. Mark enjoys golfing in his free time. He is on the Board of Directors of Heart Gift, an organization that provides hearts to children around the world. So far, they have provided seven to children in Houston alone. He is also a Committeeman in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) Junior Rodeo Committee.
